LOCAL lad James Birkinshaw is the second confirmed signing for Sheffield's 2007 Premier League campaign.

And that means a welcome return for the fans favourite who is renowned for his all-action style.

'Birko' spent last season in the Conference League with Boston but was quick to agree a new deal to take him back to his hometown club.

Tigers owner Neil Machin said: "James was delighted to get the call and we have always maintained a great relationship with the lad.

"He's still only 25 and should be viewing this as the perfect opportunity to relaunch his career."

Birkinshaw joins skipper Andre Compton in next season's team, but Emiliano Sanchez has been released to Birmingham in a loan deal.
