LOCAL lad Josh Bates says he can’t stop dreaming of Sheffield winning the Championship – but knows the importance of keeping his feet on the ground.

The Owlerton outfit travel to Glasgow on Tuesday (7.30) for the second leg of their play-off semi-final.

The Sheffield Window Centre Tigers are in confident mood ahead of their trip to Scotland thanks to their stunning 59-31 home leg victory last Thursday.

And while a 28-point advantage does make them firm favourites to progress and take on Ipswich in the Grand Final, Bates says getting off to a strong start at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium will be important.

“I think we have to do that because if they do how we did on Thursday in the first few races then that will get their belief up,” Bates said.

“But hopefully a 28-point lead will be enough for us and while it’s easy to say we want to defend that, we actually want to go to Glasgow and win on the night as well.

“We did that with only half a team a few weeks ago so now we’re at full strength, I don’t see any reason why we can’t do it again.

“I can’t stop thinking about us winning the league, but it’s hard because there’s still a lot of hard work to be done yet.

“We can’t even think about racing against Ipswich in the Final until we’ve made sure we’ve got the job done against Glasgow.

“So hopefully we can just get the points in the bag as early as we can and then we can look further ahead.”
