SHEFFIELD boss Simon Stead reckons last month’s watershed win at Scunthorpe has been the catalyst behind some stellar performances on the road in recent weeks.

The Tigers had lost both away Championship meetings by more than 10 prior to winning 50-40 at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

Since then, Stead’s men have picked up points from narrow defeats at Edinburgh and Newcastle to supplement a faultless home record.

“Everyone will be fired up for the derby, they are always great meetings and we certainly want to get another result,” said Stead ahead of Sunday’s return to Lincolnshire (5.30).

“I found our last win at Scunthorpe hugely boosted the boys, our away performances have improved massively since that result with us having struggled on the road previously.

“The boys have responded brilliantly since then, we have got better and better with some strong results against stiff opposition last weekend.”

Nathan Stoneman stands in for the absent Jack Parkinson-Blackburn at reserve, while the Scorpions also have a guest at number seven with Nathan Greaves in for Josh Bailey.
