SHEFFIELD star Ricky Wells helped the USA into the 2012 Speedway World Cup as they won Saturday’s qualifier in Ljubljana.

Wells scored eleven points as the Americans got the better of hosts Slovenia by a four-point margin, with Ukraine and Italy both some way back.

The meeting also saw the return to international competition for Billy Hamill, who scored ten along with Ryan Fisher, with Greg Hancock adding 13.

USA will now face Poland, Denmark and Russia in Event One of the World Cup at Bygoszcz on July 7.
